The History of Anticon

On Wednesday December 17th, Doseone, Jel and the other founders of Anticon played an intimate show in the Tap Room of the Knitting Factory. Doseone tells the history of how the label came to be. I can’t believe I missed it… I saw the 10th Anniversary show the next night.

I was lucky enough to be at the show where the cLOUDDEAD reunion happened.

Creek Creative December Show

I am leading a set at the December Creek Creative show on Thursday, Dec 11th. I started Creek Creative so I’d have a reason to push myself and others and it looks like I’ve done just that.

Michael Bailey and I will be doing our best Dosh impersonation for the final set. We have a few sketches for tunes and I’ve loaded up the Kaoss Pad with some interesting sounds so we’ll see what happens.

This will be my first gig using my new drum mics, loop pedal and my iPhone. Yes, my iPhone as an instrument (lame I know, but it beats dragging around my MacBook and a controller). I’ll post some clips if things don’t go terribly terribly wrong.

Learning a life lesson

Tonight I learned a really great lesson replacing the battery in a friends 2nd-gen iPod nano:

“Just because you can unplug something does not necessary mean you can then plug it back in.”

This may very well just be the verbose version of Calaicanus‘:

“Starting is easy, finishing is hard.”

I’ll leave this to the to both history and the last few employed philosophers to sort out. In the meantime, Andrew, your iPod is ready and I feel better equipped for life.
